Normality is a paved road: It’s comfortable to walk,

but no flowers grow on it.”

As an artist I am always searching for new inspiration for my paintings. At heart I think I am a romantic who loves color, impossibilities and the unusual. My eyes have been drawn upward this spring to the sky which has been filled with majestic white clouds surrounded with rich blues, warm oranges and deep purple grays. I can watch clouds endlessly as they form and then dissipate into the eternal atmosphere. The rich blue sky and the warm sun stir in me an eagerness to create new works of art that hopefully bring  joy and wonder to the viewer. Not only have my eyes been drawn upward to the clouds but also downward towards the multitude of flower beds in my neighborhood. They to have the power to stir my imagination and creative senses with their bright colors and forms. The above painting, Blue Imagination is one of my latest paintings. It was fun thinking how I might animate these flowers so they appeared to be dancing and filled with life. Although flowers and clouds are different in substance and form they have some of the same important traits that stimulate artistic imagination. Do you think Vincent would like these not so normal flower paintings?

The Rose Garden above is also new this week and a result of my cloud and flower inspiration. I have always loved red but have shyed away from pink when painting until this year. I have found that adding orange to the pink helps to make a warm color  transition between the pink and the red. Oh the little things one learns when experimenting.

The Hummers are back and come in several color combinations. They are made of paper clay and are easily hung both indoors and outdoors.
