Commissioned Art Works 

Glory and majesty have surrounded the Helena valley these early months of 2022. Due to a low amount of snowfall it has been easy to get out and take advantage of Montana’s Big Sky. We have been blest with some of the most colorful skies I have seen. There are no words for these spectacular sunsets. They take one’s breath away. I get in my car and travel around Helena trying to get the best location for photographing that I can. It’s a challenge because Helena in square miles is large and to get from one end of town to the other may mean you miss the sun’s colorful drama.

So when I haven’t been chasing sunsets and sunrises I have been blest with commission work. Below are two of the most recent commissions. The first one is a painting of St Paul Lutheran Church in Jersey City, NJ. This was commissioned by the congregation for their pastor of the past 14 years, The Rev. Jessica Lambert. The painting is on 3/4 inch birch. Once the painting is complete I cut out the main elements of the painting revealing the contour line of the building and the surrounding elements. This piece was a delightful challenge with all of its architectural elements and fine details. This piece was a joy to create because I knew how much it would mean to the congregation and Pastor Jessica.

The second commission came from David and Nicky Glenn of Richmond Texas. The Glenns have ordered several of my birds over the years and this time they wanted a Mocking Bird, the Texas State bird. It seemed only fitting that the bird should be named Tex. He has an air of confidence and a smile that stretches from ear to ear which most Texans have. He is made of paper clay and stands 6 to 7 inches tall and is mounted on a wooden base. I Sent David and Nicky a few cowboy hats that Tex could wear when appropriate. They were thrilled. They are now thinking of getting him a Santa Hat and an Astros hat as well.
